Shepards! Tend Your Flock!

Posted by Dory

I have 3 kids with my wife. My oldest is my son 12 years old and turning a teenager at a ferocious pace. Long hair, pimples, stinky feet and his body growing at disproportional rates. His emotions are on edge and he thinks we're just trying to keep "the man down". He picks fights with his little brother for fun and turns his homework in late. Then wants to argue about us taking away the xbox because of his bad grades. Then he sternly pronounces that we don't care about him and we don't love him. With that statement, he's lucky that's all that's happening.

It's because we care about him we punish him. If we let him run his life the way he deems fit he would never take a shower, never comb or much less cut his hair. He would fail school and probably be taken away from us because he would never eat anything healthy. He would probably beat his brother all the time or be beaten by his brother.

In today's church we have people who run their lives any way they deem fit. With no regards for their pastor and their pastor has no regards for them. They both do what ever they can to make each other comfortable. Even to the point of pastor letting any type of person act any way they want with out consequence.

Right now there are people who want to go to church but they are afraid of individuals who are there. The people point fingers, spread rumors, and even bold face lie about those wanting, no..., needing help. Self professing Christians denying Christ to those who desire him.

Pastors, tend your flock!

I pulled this text from http://www.sheep101.info/201/behavior.html

While sheep are generally a docile, non-aggressive animal, this is not usually the case with rams, especially during the breeding season. Rams can be very aggressive and have been known to cause serious injuries, even death, to people. A ram should never be trusted, even if it is friendly or was raised as a pet. It is important to always know where the ram is and to never turn your back on him. Children should be restricted access to rams during the breeding season.Head butting is both a natural and learned behavior in sheep. Classic head butting among rams is highest during the rutting season which precedes the onset of heat in ewes. It is a way for rams to get into physical shape for the breeding season and to establish (or re-establish) the dominance hierarchy. To discourage butting, you should avoid petting or scratching a ram on the head. Otherwise, the ram may see this as a challenge or aggressive behavior. In general, the ram sees you as part of the flock and wants to dominate you.

The only time ewes may exhibit aggressive behavior is after lambing -- to protect their young.

Seriously. Stop petting these aggressors on the head. They are not the body of Christ but the disease that's killing the entire church. If you can not take the responsibility to correct these people then you need to resign from your position. You have made an oath to God to care for his people the moment you stood behind the pulpit and opened your bible. For when that day comes it will be you who answers for the lost you allowed to be shut out of His church.

Hurt

Posted by Dory

For the last 18 years of my life I have been living a life that was never truly mine. Circumstances not in my control forced me to make compromising choices that I would have never had made before. 18 years of my life was not my own. Every breath I took, ever word I spoke, every step I made, everything that I did was in vein. New truth came to light and I am having to deal with what could have been and what is now. Conflicts in what I have and what I need. The Bible tells me to push forward and not look back. The world tells me nothing. My heart tells me it's in pain. A thousand voices in my head.  Peace is no where to be found. Why would God let such innocence be twisted? Why would He let something I devoted, entirely to him, to be mislead? I lived for His Glory and His Honor. I obeyed His Law and His Commandments because I wanted everything to come to be blessed. Stolen and pulled right out of my hands, my entire life.

My God. My Creator. My Protector. My Judge. Hear and feel the pain in my heart. Guide me because I am lost. Guide and Protect those who are involved.

This is a huge life altering moment for me. No joke. This is very real and that is how my heart feels right now. Hurt.

As a aircraft mechanic I look at it like this:

A pilot is flying important long trek to the other side of the world.  Half way through the flight the crew chief comes onto the flight deck and tells him, "Sir, we never filled up with fuel and the tanks have been bone dry most of the flight". Of course the pilot is going to freak right out (as I am). But for some reason the aircraft (my life) never looses power and keeps on chugging along.

The problem that I am facing is a huge conflict. How do the choices and plans we make compare in respect to the plans God has?

I know what God's plan was. I know what God told me. I heard him very clearly. But a person made a choice that challenged that. Where I thought I had failed, I didn't. Now I wonder... what about God's plan?

Either way I pray that God's glory will be revealed and I will honor and praise him through this storm.

I will leave this open for moderated comment. Spam killed on sight.

Rose Colored Stain Glass Windows

Posted by Dory

The year was 1974 when the Christian band Petra was formed and that was also the year I was born. They are one of the greatest Christian bands to ever inspire me and I can honestly say Petra was a True Grit Band. In 1982 Bob Hartman wrote one song that rings very true to the message I wish the deliver. The song is called Rose Colored Stain Glass Windows. Here are the Lyrics and a link to this heart felt song.

rose

Another sleepy Sunday, safe within the walls
Outside a dying world in desperation calls
But no one hears the cries or knows what they're about
The doors are locked within, or is it from without?

Looking through rose colored stained glass windows
Never allowing the world to come in
Seeing no evil and feeling no pain
Making the light as it comes from within so dim... so dim

Out on your doorstep lay the masses in decay
Ignore them long enough, maybe they'll go away
When you think you have so much, you have so much to lose
You think you have no lack, when you're really destitute

There are few churches that actually reach out to anyone that don't enter their doors. So many people walk through life, even here in the United States, who have never heard of Jesus Christ or know what He is about. They live, suffer and die, hopeless and lost, always starving for love and compassion.  All the while, people are growing old sitting in the pews ignoring the pain just beyond the walls. They think it's not their responsibility when the truth is...

They will have to answer to God for everything they ignored.

Why didn't you talk to your neighbor's son when all he wanted to know is someone cared?  Why didn't you help out a coworker when it would have opened a door to him for Christ? You laughed at that poor drunk with holes in his shoes when all he needed was an encouraging word. People walk into church stuffing their sins deep into their pockets and pulling out their own personalized self righteous face. They think that the few dollars they put into the offering plate will fend off the flames of Hell and their songs will open the gates of Heaven. When all they are doing is lying to themselves and to those around them and it all tears away at the face of Christianity. It's no wonder religion is the joke of the world.

If you're comfortable being a two faced Christian you need to straighten up or get out. Pack up your things- turn around- and walk right out the doors of the church and don't look back. It's better for you to be a full fledged sinner than one who drags the innocent down with you by playing Christian. I see them every single day. Sunday school teachers who cuss at work and tell off color jokes. My God. Being Christian isn't a way of life, it IS LIFE!

You know what I am talking about and if you're living that, you know exactly what you need to do. Jesus Christ didn't die just for me or just for you. He died for all of us. God let Him pay for all our sins, willingly taking the pain and suffering off us and put it onto Himself. He didn't fake it. He didn't just say He did it. Christ really did suffer for you. You just have to accept it. Accept the life He offers you. Live the life He offers you. Give that life to others. Share your faults and humble yourself to those you harmed. It will be hard and the road will be tough because you lefts plenty of potholes on your path. Filling those holes and start sharing true grit Christianity and break down those Rose Color Stain Glass Windows.

Digging for Coal

Posted by Dory

"There is a mine for silver and a place where gold is refined.

Iron is taken from the earth, and copper is smelted from ore.

Man puts an end to the darkness; he searches the farthest recesses for ore in the blackest darkness.

Far from where people dwell he cuts a shaft, in places forgotten by the foot of man; far from men he dangles and sways.

The earth, from which food comes, is transformed below as by fire; sapphires come from its rocks, and its dust contains nuggets of gold.

No bird of prey knows that hidden path, no falcon's eye has seen it.

Proud beasts do not set foot on it, and no lion prowls there.

Man's hand assaults the flinty rock and lays bare the roots of the mountains.

He tunnels through the rock; his eyes see all its treasures.

He searches the sources of the rivers and brings hidden things to light.

"But where can wisdom be found? Where does understanding dwell?

Man does not comprehend its worth; it cannot be found in the land of the living.

The deep says, 'It is not in me'; the sea says, 'It is not with me.'

It cannot be bought with the finest gold, nor can its price be weighed in silver.

It cannot be bought with the gold of Ophir, with precious onyx or sapphires.

Neither gold nor crystal can compare with it, nor can it be had for jewels of gold.

Coral and jasper are not worthy of mention; the price of wisdom is beyond rubies.

The topaz of Cush cannot compare with it; it cannot be bought with pure gold.

"Where then does wisdom come from?

Where does understanding dwell?

It is hidden from the eyes of every living thing, concealed even from the birds of the air.

Destruction and Death say, 'Only a rumor of it has reached our ears.'

God understands the way to it and he alone knows where it dwells,

for he views the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens.

When he established the force of the wind and measured out the waters,

when he made a decree for the rain and a path for the thunderstorm,

then he looked at wisdom and appraised it; he confirmed it and tested it.

And he said to man,
'The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.' "

Defeating the Tower

Posted by Dory

I was raised in the Assembly of God Church and over the years I have been in several different churches of different faiths, Baptist, Church of Christ, Methodist, Catholic, Nazarene, Pentecostal, many types.

Unless my timing was horribly bad, or good depending on your motivations, I have found racial integration nearly nonexistent. What am I talking about you ask?

Before I go on I want you to know I am not being racially insensitive, I'm being real here. I harbor little to no prejudice against any race to my conscience knowledge. If I have any deeply hidden racial tendencies, I pray that I can see this so I can stop it.

Go to church Sunday morning and tell me how many Asian, Latino, East Indian, or African Americans are sitting in your congregation.

We preach equality. We preach brotherly love.  And we preach "Rise up against prejudice!".

So why is there still racial tensions in God's Church?

I find it disturbing that we have voluntarily and unknowingly and sometimes knowingly allowed segregation to hold the church back. I know some people will try to support their feelings with "out of context" scripture from the Bible. The uneducated people will say the Bible talks about keeping slaves and staying away from other people. They will even point out scriptures for you of course out of context....

http://www.answering-christianity.com/slaves.htm

Where in the bible does it tell us to be separate but equal?

No Where.

The Bible only segregate people based on beliefs not by race. For example, Jewish people were forbidden from mixing with Gentiles, Believers from Nonbelievers. But what you might not understand is Jewish law makes a way for a person to become a Jew, which in all truth is more of a way of life rather than race. Sure a person can be born a Jew but a determined and sincere person can become a Jew by conversion. So when you look again at those scripture that supposedly claim to keep Anglo, Hispanic, Asian and African apart, is not promoting segregation at all but isolation from different religious beliefs.

On this same level many people feel the Bible supports slavery but don't be tricked you have been given scripture out of context once again.

The Bible is best known in it's King James version when in the 1500's the language was more romantic and sometimes lacking definition for current times. Even then the Bible had been translated many times, modernized, and adapted to the time at hand. So when racial tensions were high people seen the word slave in there they instantly assumed every one in the bible was a white man with a whip in one hand and a cross in the other.

The term "Slave" was given to anyone who was a servant and not necessarily taken into servitude against their will. Jesus Christ does not support slavery as we have come to understand slavery to be during the darkest times of our history.

Dr. Martin Luther King is quoted as saying "“Eleven o'clock Sunday morning is the most segregated hour in America"

This is undeniably true. So...

Mrs. Parks would you give up your seat... in this church?

Naked

What frightens you beyond all things?

Spiders? Heights? Closed up spaces? Clowns?

Or  how about..

Being offended and disrespected by a dear friend?

Getting caught doing something that would shame the name of your family?

Your mother finding out your darkest secrets, from your worst time, when your in your weakest moment?

What is it that cuts you right to the bone?

Exceeding all things physical the emotional trauma will haunt you for eternity.

Put yourself in that moment. Put yourself in that moment. The one that shakes your spirit and brings you right down to your knees.

Now know this...

God was there all that time.

He saw every little selfish action you made.

He heard every little lie you told and every cuss word that left your mouth

He witnessed every act of hatred that you did to others and He saw every glimmer of lust in your eyes.

-Nothing you have ever done is hidden from him.

Even through all of this shame God still loves you. His own Son Jesus Christ loves you so very much that when you felt like nothing more than a lump of dirt He considers you priceless and willingly takes your sins upon Himself. When the world demands you pay for your faults Jesus Christ offers to pay for your spiritual debts. Christ alone takes those shames away where it really matters- in the eyes of the Father.

What good is my body to roam the world freely when my soul is suffering and in pain?

When my heart cries out who hears and comforts when I play it safe on the outside?

Now what is holding you back from giving yourself to him?

There is freedom in Christ when the chains of the world want to hold you down. Don't put it off any longer.

We are healed….

Posted by Dory

Isaiah 53:5 reads But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Read what this verse means:

He was pierced for our violations of a law, our sins. He was crushed for our gross immorality, our injustice, our wickedness. When I deserved punishment He took my placed. He saved my Soul!

People often mistake this verse claiming that His suffering was to heal our illness, our sickness, our diseases, our misfortunes; that was never Christ's purpose.  He came into this world to save our souls. The miracles of healing were performed so that the lost might believe in God.

Understand this... if I believe then I will not be afraid of what this world puts against me. If I believe then I know with no doubt that God will take care of me. If I believe then nothing God puts before me can the world keep from me. God will always provide. God will always protect. God will always deliver.

As I write this my Daughter who is only 7 months old has been trying for nearly 20 minutes to get to the stairs to climb to higher ground. The problem for her is there are obstacles in her way to keep her from climbing up them. She is trying very hard to get over and around the giant bean bag blocking her way. She doesn't realize if she simple asked me she would be taken up stairs to play.  Then just now, and I can hardly contain my emotions, this she turned to me as said "up."

Father we go through this life wanting to carve our own path to higher ground. We fight and get discouraged when things don't go our way. We cry out for help and when we don't receive it we get angry and have a bitterness towards you. We are in despair and finally give up and as a last resort we look up to you and say "Up". Give us the wisdom to see past our own petty misfortunes and give you the glory no matter what and no matter when. Give us the understanding to leave our worldly concerns in your hands so we can open our hearts wide to you.

The Reach

Posted by Dory

I am so insignificant. There is no reason for me to be here.  God don't need me. He don't need anything from me. There is nothing I can do that could possibly impress him. My life has no meaning. I don't stand out. Opportunity don't knock on my door. I struggle through the tides of a desperate life searching for my reason. My reason for being. Why God put me here. In all this searching all I find are hollow, empty, unfilling ends.

So I looked up to God and I ask. Why did you put me here? Reveal to me my purpose so I can do it and just come home.

and He tells me...

Your purpose is the journey, and when you complete the journey- you will be home.

When I looked inside I found it was never about me, but it was all about Him.

I found Faith wasn't at all what I thought. Faith isn't about believing in something I want to happen. Having Faith isn't about healing the sick or having the money to feed our children. Faith isn't about hoping that old car will make it home one more time. People have thought having Faith was believing God would do what we wanted. It's not.

Faith is simple believing, understanding, and trusting in the Will of God. That is regardless of our own personal cost and suffering. Having Faith is staying the journey when all hope is lost. Faith is standing when all things have been stripped away. It's putting my desires aside and putting Christ first. That is Faith. When I came to terms with that and I put all my Faith in Christ I can see His desires. Why He did what He did for me. And then I see, what He did was all about me.

When I think about it I can hear him...

I am so insignificant.

Yet I died for you.

There is no reason for me to be here.

Yet I give you life .

God don't need me.

Yet I shelter you.

He don't need anything from me.

Yet I give you grace.

There is nothing I can do that could possibly impress him.

Yet I pick you up when you fall.

My life has no meaning.

Yet I offer you everlasting life.

I don't stand out.

Yet I accept you just as you are.

Opportunity don't knock on my door.

Yet I stand at the door and knock.

I struggle through the tides of a desperate life searching for my reason.

Yet I command the waves to be still.

My reason for being.

I am.

Why God put me here.

To journey with me.

In all this searching all I find are hollow empty unfilling ends.

and I will fill you with my Holy Spirit.

To love God is to fall on your knees to pray and to stand feet and praise. To take the hand of Christ and walk beside him. Not behind Him nor in front of Him but with Him side by side. To take Him in like the warmth of a fire on a cold night. To drink him in like a cold water on a parched tongue. To live a symbiont life with Him as one. To breath him in like the fragrant breeze on a spring morning. It's not a life of isolation but a life of fulfillment. Not sitting but running with a purpose in the light.

From the day you were born you were destined to die. From the day you was created God desires you to live.

You are loved. Now carry His Glory to all by His grace.

Follow Your Heart

Posted by Dory

Have you noticed how often the encouraging words "follow your heart" is given in life changing situations? When relationships are on edge, Just follow your heart. When a ethics at work are on the line, Just follow your heart. When naming your new born child, just follow your heart. In many more ways that I can say that advice is often given. In one sense it's given to not take any responsibility for someones actions. In another sense it makes someone depend on their own life experiences to make a drastic call. Follow your heart.

God tells us that the heart of man seeks out wicked ways.

Jeremiah 17:5-10 (New International Version)

5 This is what the LORD says:
"Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
who depends on flesh for his strength
and whose heart turns away from the LORD.

6 He will be like a bush in the wastelands;
he will not see prosperity when it comes.
He will dwell in the parched places of the desert,
in a salt land where no one lives.

7 "But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,
whose confidence is in him.

8 He will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit."

9 The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure.
Who can understand it?

10 "I the LORD search the heart
and examine the mind,
to reward a man according to his conduct,
according to what his deeds deserve."

So now why would anyone dare suggestion that someone follow their heart?

Listen to Paul as he spoke in the book of Philippians.

Philippians 4:4-7 (New International Version)

4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Listen for guidance and have faith in Christ alone for only He can guide you on the narrow path.  Read your Bible the wisdom of timeless ages speak living words for today. You can then follow the right heart.

Unseen Fires

Posted by Dory

In today's Church we have closed the door to grace and taken the spirit away from the Holy Ghost. We have diluted the word of God so much that conviction isn't felt beyond the stain glass doors. We don't we want to offend anyone nor do we like to see people hurt. So we take the sting out of words and feed people happiness on a spoon paid for by the blood of Christ. We don't want to see them hunger so we feed them watered down dribble to keep them content, like a well fed baby. Just enough to make them think they are okay but not enough to upset their personal lives.

This reminds me of an article I read about newborns being given sugar water which used to be a old wives practice and somewhat still used today. Research has shown that this isn't a good practice at all and can cause serious problems such as water intoxication and blocking nutrient absorption. Magnified even more in a newborn if the practice is abused. This is the same thing with the church. If we continue to feed God's sheep sugar water we are not doing them any good but only condemning them to a life of hollow hopes, empty labors and eternity in Hell.

All around us people in our church are living and dying in a world of sin. They try to fit into society by feeding on fleshly desires and sharing fleshly desires. Lying, cheating, stealing, adulterers being blasphemous and shameful to their family in a fallen world. Yet we look to God to provide our needs to heal our sick and pay our bills when we can't even pray over dinner as a family. Our sons are off playing at a friends house who do nothing good but encourage rebellion. Our precious daughters worry about their weight and rather starve than face her friends as school tomorrow with a little baby fat on her thighs and yet she's only 11.

We are falling away from Christ as a church, as a family, as individuals.

Wake UP!

We have got to stop painting Christ in pastel colors surrounded by daisies. If we are not truly Christian by the righteous judgement of Christ we will bear the wrath of an angry God! Woe to those who have to face the wrath of the lamb. Christ alone took all the wrath for the sins we repented of. A wrath that will still fall upon all who are ashamed of and deny Christ.

Understand we must give Jesus Christ the Glory He so richly deserves. Christ alone deserves all our praise, all our devotion, all our works. When the day comes when we have to face God everything we have ever done is going to be laid out and examined. It will not be negotiable or debatable. There will be no lawyers to defend you. Jesus Christ says..

Matthew 7:21-23 (New International Version)

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

The late Pastor Paris Reidhead said it best and we must have this same drive.

“Lord Jesus, I’m going to obey you and love you and serve you and do what you want me to do, as long as I live even if I go to Hell at the end of the road,... simply because you are worthy to be loved and obeyed and served, and I’m not trying to make a deal with you.”

We must learn to follow Christ giving everything to God but expecting nothing.

My sons are on this trip to where if you ask them to do something they want something in return. They loose so much when they propose this transaction than if they would have just done what I told them to do. Do not look to God to make a wager! You have already received your reward through the precious grace of Christ. Life everlasting. But the reward is only good as long as you are repenting daily because we all sin daily. Turn away from sin and have faith in Jesus Christ. Do not be ashamed to be a light in the darkness. Be bold and turn over the tables and spill out the sugar water. Burn bright for Christ.

As Paul said..I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
